Large Classical Tiered Pedestal Statue Fountain with Neptune and Horses
The great Neptune Fountain, originally designed off the antique Trento Cathedral fountain in Trento (Italy). Triton on the fountain of Neptune in piazza del Duomo. This statue is a further copy made in the 1920 by Davide Rigatti of the copies made in 1871 by Andrea Malfatti of the original statues. This large fountain includes a large pool surround with 4 bowls with rosetta decoration. The four antique Centaurus (Hippocamp/Mermen) are each drilled to spout water into the pool. All Centaurus have cornucopias or shells, making a great water effect.
The 16' 5" tall marble central fountain has a large lobed basin with ornately carved decoration on the pedestal. On this basin sit four hand-carved cherub sculptures. Each putto have dolphins, cornucopia/shell elements, and drilled for water. The large top basin supports a Neptune sculpture (god of the sea) with the two dolphins with iron trident. The Neptune sculpture was used a lot in the past, in several Roman fountains (example Fontana di Trevi) featured these great sculptures.
